I have used the Blackboard Learn as
a student this summer when I took my first course for the BA in Adult Ed. This
system created an area for instructor to post any announcements, students to
have discussions, find resources and see our posted grades. Chapter discussions
were created by the instructor so we can comment then respond and vice versa.
This organized socialization helped go over the theory in the textbook with
other classmates. As the content was difficult to cipher it was nice to have
fellow classmates post and discuss their observations. This was a blended
course of f2f and online. Although we met online first then the classroom it
was still nice to know who was who typing on the discussion posts and to have
that grounded face-to-face interaction. My preference is face-to-face learning
because I like the connections and classroom setting environment.
We use the online system Moodle at
my work. This is used for now in the same way. This is a place where students
can find their schedules, any resources in the form of attachment/links, pdf’s
and videos.
I would like to use the online
environment to provide another dimension to educate the students. The biggest
obstacle I face is myself as I feel that my preference is to be face to face. I
want the comfort of classroom setting to be just as approachable as the online
learning environment. I’m looking forward to understanding the online setting.
To keep learners focused, engaged and motivated.
Students today use technology
frequently; therefore multitasking with the world around them and the virtual
one they have online have become a symbiosis. I think web based resources will
be easy for students to use. The playing field seems to be the discussion
boards/posts and the instructors have to explain the rules of the game. The
actual playing of this game are the assignments and obviously the end result
your grades/final score.
